Fulvia

"He had always thought of them, the hills, as the natural theater for his love. But he had to do the last thing he could imagine there: war."

This is one of the memorable passages of A Private Affair - the most beautiful novel by Beppe Fenoglio - focused on a story of love and war between Milton and Fulvia.

Well, Fulvia lived here! She was, in fact, modeled on Benedetta Ferrero, Italo’s sister; actually called aunt Mimma by everyone in her family.

Here you can really smell the 40s air, by the soft light of the face-powder coloured tents, the original furniture, the pictures of Benedetta as a young girl, the petineuse and especially the radio forever freezed on Over The Rainbow.
